Up-and-coming child stars Chloe Moretz and Asa Butterfield, who recently collaborated on Martin Scorsese’s Academy Award-winning Hugo, are attached to star in The White Circus, a Terry Gilliam-produced fairy tale.
Variety reports that The White Circus will take place on a snowy New Year’s Eve. In the film, a beginner pilot crashes his plane into a town ravaged by war and realizes that the town is under the control of an evil dictator. The pilot, who has fallen for a beautiful cabaret singer, enlists the help of a talking circus bear to launch a revolution against the despot.
Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski, known for their short animated film Madame Tutli-Putli, will direct, and the film will commence shooting next year in Germany. Andrea Riseborough and Christian Friedel are also set to appear in the film.
